Having a healthy, loving relationship with our partner is something we all want. The hope that we be with a person who respects us and lifts us up often drives us to make a serious commitment.
However, it can be quite a challenge to maintain. As individuals often grow and evolve separately from each other creating disharmony
We may worry that we are not on the same page or find it difficult to be heard and understood the way we intend. In order to reconnect, couple's counselling may be helpful.
HOW COUPLE'S COUNSELLING CAN HELP YOUR RELATIONSHIP
Couple's Counselling provides with a safe place to hear and understand each other and then create a united plan to grow together and support one other.
For new relationships counselling can be helpful to establish a healthy and loving relationship that has a foundation of good communication.
Established couples may find it challenging to remain connected as each other's roles in the relationship may change when the family welcomes children, experiences loss or is impacted by the pressure of work/life balance.
Having a neutral, non-judgemental third person to reframe and reflect what you are trying to let your partner know can facilitate the correction of misunderstandings and create new guidelines that become the basis of your relationship into the future

Couples counselling is not appropriate if there is an experience of family violence, instead we would recommend each person receives individual counselling.
STEPS IN COUPLE'S COUNSELLING
Prior to attending as a couple the Counsellor will meet with you individually to explore your hopes and concerns for couples counselling. If the Counsellor deems it unsuitable for couples counselling as there is family violence behaviours present, individual counselling for each person will be recommended.
Ongoing couple sessions to explore your individual and couple goals for the relationship.
BREAK OUT SESSIONS
After the fourth session the Counsellor may recommend that a break out session occurs. This is when the Counsellor spends 25 minutes with each of you to individually explore how the couple sessions are going and ensure the couple sessions are in alignment with your individual goals.
